Skill level suggestions when taking classes at 3 Hens and A Chick Quilt Shop.
Beginning in January 2021, teachers are adding suggested Skill Levels to our classes. These are the guidelines to follow when choosing a class:
Basic Beginner - has knowledge of sewing machine, knows how to thread machine and wind a bobbin and has desire to learn quilting
Skilled Beginner - has experience sewing with their machine; understands quilting terms like: rotary cutter, quarter-inch seam, binding, can read and understand quilting patterns and has desire to try new techniques
Intermediate - has quilted several years or has sewn several quilting projects, has attended classes on quilting; seam allowances and block sizes are becoming more accurate, and you are willing to try more advanced techniques in quilting
Advanced - All beginner and intermediate skills above are mastered, you are up for the next challenge of learning more difficult techniques, and you are still learning and growing
CLASS POLICY
As of January, 2023 our class policy will be as follows.
48-HOUR NOTICE REQUIREMENT

If the minimum required students set by the teacher is not met, class will be canceled within 48 hours, and students will have the option of refund or store credit.
Ready, Set, Sew. piecing large blocks into rows has always been fast. Using the "10Minute" technique allows you to create bug blocks with a diamond center. Those edges can be coaxed to curve without sewing any cruved seams.
The Quilt was so much fun to make. I felt as if I were creating cartoon characters. Using the Wonder Curve ruler makes the process very manageable, even if you have never done the curved piecing.
This is a 4 session class
July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13 & Oct.11
Come join us and make a rag quilt to snuggle up with this winter.
A rag quilt can be made with different size and shape blocks. Cotton or flannel will both work well.
This class will include placing darts, pockets, & plackets for button and buttonholes, putting in a collar with a collar stand & cuffs with button closure! You can even finish off your raw edges with a serger, if you want!

It's time to talk turkey with the next table topper using the book- Table Toppers for All Seasons. I opted to add a turkey applique to the center of the pieced table topper, but you can use the leaf design as shown in the book.
The Mega Dream Bag is the perfect bag for all your sewing tools and notions. It also makes a great travel bag for toiletries and all your traveling stuff.
