SUPPLIES:
PATTERN: Tradewinds a Cozy Strip Club pattern for 2 1/2inch strips (available at 3 Hens & A Chick Quilt Shop)
1 Jelly Roll (at least 40 Strips) and 1/4 yd cut of 2 coordinating fabrics
OR
16 quarter yard cuts of various fabrics
1 3/4 yd background and Border 1 fabric (If you wish, you can wait on the second border and backing fabric. Once the center is together, you will be able to see what works best).
1 1/4 yd for Border #2
Backing - 4 yd of fabric
Sewing machine in good working order
Coordinating Thread
Rotary Cutter
Strip Tube Ruler and rulers to cut width of fabric (6" or 8.5" X 24")
Any other sewing notions you think you might need (Seam ripper, scissors, pins, thread clippers, etc.)
HOMEWORK BEFORE CLASS BEGINS:
Cut (all cuts are width of fabric)
If you purchased a jelly roll and yardage, cut 3 -2 1/2"strips from the yardage fabrics.
If you purchased yardage instead of a jelly roll, cut 3 - 2 1/2"strips from each of the 16 fabrics.
From your background fabric, cut 7 strips measuring 4 1/2" wide
Sew
Select 3 strips and sew together using a quarter inch seam. Use sizing or starch spray when you press the seams in one direction (preferably towards the darker fabrics. This is one strip set. Make 10 total sets like this.
NEXT, select 2 strips and sew together using a quarter inch seam. Use sizing or starch spray when you press the seams in one direction (preferably towards the darker fabric. This is one strip set. Make 7 total sets like this.
