2023 0318 Day Tote using you SERGER - Instructor: Sheilah Mathias
Your Day Tote is supported with Bosal or Soft & Stable. The bag is lined, has a large flower flap with a magnetic snap closure and braided straps for the handles. We will be sewing through several layers (6-plus) and it is important that your Serger will be able to sew through multiple layers. In this project you will learn Prairie Points, 4 thread overlock stitches, pintucks, and with your sewing machine you will learn the stitch in the ditch technique.

Additional Supplies needed are: Double Sided Fusible Bosal or Soft and Stable: 15 inches x 60 inches 1/4 inch cording : 2.75 yards (You will also need a Cording or Piping foot) Medium weight interfacing: 20 inches x 5 inches EZE Steam A Seam Large sewing needle and extra strong thread Snap 1 1/4" diameter size Button: Large 1 1/4" to secure flower to flap of tote Standard Serger Thread and a Heavy (12 weight) thread like Spaghetti Thread to accent Sewing Machine (Topstitch) Needles size 14/90 BASIC SERGER SUPPLIES: Cord, foot pedal, presser foot , and everything that came with your Serger (including the manual) PRE-CLASS (HOMEWORK) REQUIREMENTS: Carefully read through the pattern and have all your pieces cut out and labeled as shown in the pattern. |
